A review for Japanese auroral records on the three extreme space weather events around the International Geophysical Year (1957–1958)

Solar Cycle 19 was probably the greatest solar cycle over last four centuries and significantly disrupted solar-terrestrial environments with a number of eruptions resultant geomagnetic storms. At its peak, International Geophysical Year (IGY: 1957 -- 1958) organised by international collaborations benefitted scientific developments, capturing multiple unique extreme space weather events including third fourth storms in age. In this article, we review analyse original records Japanese auroral observations around IGY. These were Masaaki Huruhata collaboration professional observatories citizen contributors. We have digitised documented these source documents, which comprise significant displays March (minimum Dst = -255 nT), September -427 February 1958 -426 nT). allow us to visualise temporal spatial evolutions displays, reconstruct their equatorward boundaries down 41.4{\deg}, 38.3{\deg}, 33.3{\deg} invariant latitudes, contextualise occurrences following contemporary disturbances. Our results been compared during other events. aurorae generally showed reddish colourations occasionally yellowish rays. Their are attributed oxygen emission mixture greenish emission. Overall, archival provide references for future discussions on activities uniquely intense
